Panic and emergency exit hardware

This module covers the basics of panic and escape hardware, including the need for clear, safe escape routes with fire protection. It explains the difference between panic hardware (push bars, touch bars) and emergency exit hardware (push pads, lever handles) and introduces key standards (BS EN 1125, BS EN 179, BS EN 13637). It identifies the major components for touch bars, push pads, and locks, as well as accessories such as outside exit devices, hold-back devices and alarms.
The module also highlights the use of electrical escape systems.
